Brighthouse Bunkhouse : Sibling Shared Kids Room
Project type
Kids Bedroom + Mural
Date
January 2025
Location
Sandpoint, ID
This shared sibling bedroom was a completely blank slate! The kids hadn't moved into the space yet, so it was bare walls and minimal furniture to move out.
First, I decided to accentuate and play with the unique shape of the room, due to the roof line creating an angular ceiling, by painting a yellow stripe across it. This gave me a natural backdrop for a very cool string art spaghetti mural, I'm not sure WHAT to call it! But the strings come in and out of their space organically, some reaching up to the ceiling too. This give the room a flow and motion feel to it.
But best of all, the room's biggest upgrade is the cozy nook in the back of the closet! A secret new kid-sized door was punched in the wall to create a tiny space for the kids to play, read a bedtime story, or just have some alone time. I outfitted it with a puffy floor cushion and adorable cloud lamp for a little lighting.
A bunk bed keeps them comfortable at night, with all OEKO-TEC certified bedding, even their star throw pillows. But best of all is the new Ratan dresser and little gallery wall above it, featuring portraits of the kids themselves (by So Many Moments), some custom artwork by their daughter, and a really neat little mirror.
All in all, their new room is a room to bloom! The kids are loving their new shared space and mom is too!
